AULD LANG SYNE – DESTINATION GUIDE

Greetings!  The time has finally come for another Destination Guide blog.  For my fifth guide, I will be covering the quiet and serene location of Auld Lang Syne.  I happened upon this location after reading a post on Facebook by Gaea Oakleaf, and decided to head over and check it out.  This location is owned by Elo (weewangle.wumpkins) and was originally opened in December of 2019.  Elo decorated the original sim with factories and old Highland living but felt she was never truly happy with it.  So she flattened it and started anew.  Currently, this location is designed to represent the remote and uninhabited Highlands in Scotland.  Nature has taken over, the buildings are crumbling and yet, the views are breathtaking.

Immediately upon landing at the welcome center my ears fill with delightful sounds of water rushing, a cow mooing, birds singing, and the occasional dog bark.  Off in the distance, you can hear ‘Amazing Grace’ on the bagpipes.  The welcome sign reads “Aul Langy is overrun with nature, broken remains of humanity and a wild spirit of Scottish warmth focusing on hardy Highland living.  Daoine (humans) have long departed, apart from Angus the secret gardener and you the occasional visitor.  Please take home all your rubbish the animals get sick if they eat plastic.  As you explore you’ll get wee details in local of actual historical places in Scotland.  There is a group joiner (gnome, 10L) if you wish to rez props/poses.  Please remove these once finished.  The region is G rating.  Please do not touch the haggis, they bite and spit.”

The welcome center is in a small old castle at the top of the hill, and it is surrounded by several crumbling structures.  In the second half of the castle is a wee art gallery for folks who do not use social media to promote their images.  For the blogging and photography folks, there is a group you can join for only $10L that allows you rezzing rights as well as a Flickr Group for you to display the images you take while visiting.

Elo was inspired to create a walk-around beach that reaches up onto a mountain.  She envisioned it to be human free and currently ruled by nature.  “Harsh but beautiful, broken but full of life.”  During my walk around the SIM I found familiar landscaping and decor items by the following designers:  Skye, DRD, Fanatik Architecture, Heart, 8f8, Love, Ionic, Jian, Gypsy Wolf, Anc, The Looking Glass, What Next, Stormwood, Apple Fall, and many more!

We hope you stop by soon!
