Designer Spotlight – Serenity Style – Hans Inshan

Here at Love to Decorate, we look forward to sharing with you the best home & garden creators on the Second Life® grid. As a way to give back to this amazing community, we will take some time to interview designers and provide you with a little insight on their lives, their work and how they are inspired to keep the world looking so beautiful. Our goal is to bring you up close and personal with the designer, their team and more.

Our first spotlight goes to the amazing talent behind Serenity Style. If you have not had the opportunity to talk to Hans, you are missing out. She is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet in this world. Her talent and ideas are endless and year after year, release after release you can see every inch of detail, hard work and dedication.

Let’s dig in!

Love to Decorate. Tell us about your brand and what made you want to start creating in SL?
Hans Inshan. Since I joined SL, I was always very curious to learn how to create and develop things here and, well, over time and after carrying out different activities I opted for the world of decoration, which is something that I have always liked in my real life.

I opened Serenity Style in 2012 although it was not until 2014 when I started with my own mesh creations. The spirit of my company is to create objects made with a lot of love, it may seems a topic but for me it means to put all my love and effort to create quality objects with good textures and personal details that create the original touch that identify the Serenity Style. I love to do little decor pieces that people can put here and there but I love to do other big furniture and houses, all depending on my inspiration.

LTD. Tell everyone about your team.
HI. For a little over 8 years I have been unemployed in my real life and that has been definitive for me to turn my hobby SL into my job in both worlds. In 2013, I self-taught myself (like many of my colleagues here) creating original meshes with a lot of effort, but certainly with great satisfaction. Beside me, and with great professionalism, Kamila Stoanes works as my General Manager and Blogger Manager. She is not only a wonderful person on a personal level, but she has an incredible capacity to work always with honesty and rigor. She is in charge of managing bloggers, marketing, RSS and many other functions … among them … a fundamental one and that is to support me even in those moments when sometimes the desire to create or ideas fail.

LTD. The creative process is different for everyone, where do you get most of the inspiration from your creations?
HI. My inspiration usually comes from thinking about … “What would I want to have in my home now?” From there I search on different sites, especially on Pinterest, references that fit my initial idea.

My next step, I start to shape it in Blender. Sometimes the initial idea changes or even disappears because suddenly something else occurs to me or I even completely transform the inspiration and the end result has nothing to do with what I had initially thought.

LTD. What was your very first release?
HI. There was a little gacha collection of owl toys, haha. (shown to the left)

LTD. Out of all of your releases, which one is your greatest achievement and why?
HI. I think it was my Military 4×4 collection.
For me to make a car was a real challenge and after different attempts I got it!!

LTD. Outside of SL, what are your hobbies and interests?
HI. The truth is that my work takes me many hours and leaves little room for the hobby but … whenever I can I relax listening to good music or enjoying a good movie on my sofa, lying down, without doing much more. In times of good weather I love to go out and sit on a terrace and enjoy a good wine and good “tapas” (I am Spanish).

LTD. What do you wish other SL residents knew about creating products?
HI. Being a creator in SL (possibly as in RL) is hard work that requires a lot of effort, many hours … first to learn how to use the right software and then to think and develop all the details of the piece you make. But then there is also keeping an eye on the customers, the events, the organization of the store. For me there is something fundamental that is customer service and being willing to respond in the best possible way and in the shortest possible time. In short … to be a creator in SL is to go one step further from the hobby to the responsibility that comes with running a business that for many (as in my case) represents the real livelihood and therefore you have to run it in the most professional way possible.

LTD. Can you give us some insight into what is to come for your brand?
HI. With my Sim partners we are organizing a monthly sale. It is called Lost Dreams Market and it is one week of discounts at 50% off of various items from each store. Also, every month I participate in events such as Uber, The Liaison Collaborative, Unik, Man Cave, Belle and others, in addition to annual events like 6ºRepublic.

I also look forward to learning Animesh and perfecting zbrush modeling techniques.

LTD. Do you have anything else you wish to add that we didn’t ask?
HI. In addition to my shop, I also make custom mesh for others. Send me a notecard for your requests.
