LTD DECOR: HILLTOP RETREAT
This is the second and final post on the garden transformation at the Oceanside Beach House and the area of focus this time is the hilltop. This quite large empty space on the FANATIK Mesh Island that was simply a blank canvas to work on.
Due to the island being mesh, you are not able to terraform as you would with a normal piece of Second Life land. Therefore, to actually do any changes, you have to build the garden landscape yourself using prims. It does take quite a lot of work, especially if you are stickler for details, but the end result should be worth it.
The Hilltop Garden Retreat is full of different varieties of plant life. From tropical plants from STUDIO SKYE to Bamboo forests from 3D TREES. If you are a lover of tranquil outdoor spaces, then this is a great spot for you to place your avatar. The koi pond (Fish yet to be added) sits in the middle of the garden space. A stone pathway leads you to and from the pond where you find a bridge to cross over to the other side where there is a dining space. No matter where you are in the garden, you can hear the gentle sounds of water from the fountains, the beautiful song of birds which all add to the relaxed atmosphere the space was meant to evoke.
The Oceanside Beach Home was open to the public when the May/June issue of LTD MAGAZINE was released, so these changes have not been seen by anyone who visited. This is why the home will be reopened again to the public for a few more days next week. This will give anyone who didn’t get chance to visit before to come, explore the home and the gardens and hopefully leave with some inspiration for the summer. Details of the open house are listed below.
THE HOUSE WILL BE OPEN – JUNE 17TH (4pmSLT) – FRIDAY 20TH (12pmSLT)
A landmark and notice will be send on the day so you won’t miss it.
In the meantime, we hope this post leaves you inspired, motivated and excited for the summer season and all of the decorating adventures to be had!
LOVE TO DECORATE
LTD DECOR: A PLACE FOR SUMMER by Editorial Clarity
I have always had a love for Gardens, Plants & Trees. Anything about the outdoors really. I’m from England by birth and where I lived was called ‘The National Forest’. An area of natural beauty and full of stately homes which were open to the public. Each of them had beautiful gardens which I loved to roam around and explore when my grandparents would take me and my brother as kids.
In the last few days, I have been working on and off creating a garden space at our home. This home was recently opened up to the public as part of the release of our May/June Issue of LTD MAGAZINE, so for those who visited will recognise it and know that the actual outdoor spaces was rather limited.
I decided to create a tiered garden, using all different varieties of plant life from STUDIO SKYE and use a great new fence set by TROMPE L’OEIL which is currently out at Fameshed. The colours all work really well together and still fits with the oceanside theme. Altogether it adds a lot more life to the place.
The garden is full of hidden spots to sit, relax and listen to the ocean waves nearby. Because the house sits on a mesh island from FANATIK, it made more sense to do a tiered garden and have it running up the hillside. The end result actually makes the garden feel a lot bigger than it really is.
Due to the outdoor space being so small, I added a collection of plants to the inside too. The great thing about this house, and you would have noticed if you visited, is that it has floor the ceiling glass windows. Therefore it doesn’t matter where you are in the home, you can still have a great view of the greenery outdoors. Brining the outdoors indoors into this home was very important and I am very happy with the results.
When In world, my avatar spends the majority of time at home, sitting on the sofa or one of the new Alexand Porter chairs from THE LOFT which are available at Collabor88. Love it! Perfect for the summer and it even inspires me to go and explore some more gardens in real life this year! Amazing what Second Life can do 🙂
I Hope this post has somewhat inspired you to do a spot of gardening for the coming season. There are plenty of great landscaping stores out there all waiting for you to do something creative with their items!
So go on, LOVE TO DECORATE!
THE GARDENS OF THE CYPRESS ESTATE
To get you in the mood for Spring/Summer and the better weather ahead, We at LTD are happy to bring you another post on Homes & Gardens, this time focussing more on the outdoor spaces of THE CYPRESS ESTATE.
What is THE CYPRESS ESTATE? It is a private home and the prefab used is by ANGEL MANOR (builder Kaya Angel). Giving the vibe of a Luxury Mediterranean estate with lots of flowers, topiaries and a must have swimming pool to enjoy the glorious sunshine. In the mood for hot weather yet?
The gardens feature many different seating areas, after all, what is the point of a great garden if you don’t sit out and enjoy it? The name CYPRESS ISLAND/ESTATE comes from the use of many Cypress Trees around the grounds bought from 3D TREES and FOREST FLOOR.
We hope this little post gets you in the mood for SPRING/SUMMER weather! This is also a little teaser for what we are going to be doing in the next issue of LTD Magazine in May. Get back into the garden and enjoy it!
