LTD DIRECTORY MEMBER: DUTCHIE
We are delighted to introduce the latest member of the LTD DIRECTORY: DUTCHIE
Here is a brief interview of what the DUTCHIE is all about.
Q: To start we would love for you to tell us a little bit about your brand?
Dutchie’s slogan is ‘Live your dreams’ and that says it all really. Dutchie has been making some of the most immersive Second Life furniture since 2008.
Dutchie’s home and furniture store is a polder landscape enclosed by dikes, spread over 2 sims. It has 3 departments: a furniture department with early and mid 20th-century furniture and vintage decor, a home department with Dutch architecture and an adult department with high quality animated furniture.
Q: Where do you get the inspiration for your designs?
I’m mostly influenced by what I see around me. I live in a city which history dates back to Roman times. It’s older parts are very well-preserved and it’s truly inspiring to see builds of many different periods side by side, still being lived in and cared for.
I pass by a mansion close to my hometown Utrecht regularly and imagined what sort of people would live there. That inspired villa Utrecht and all its furniture and decor. Also a teahouse, De Vecht that resembles a little cottage at a river nearby.
I also get inspiration from the art en old pictures on the Rijksmuseum website, like the black and white pictures I modeled the North-seacoast beach cottages after.
Q: Of all of your releases to date, which is your favorite and why?
Always the one I’m working on! I’m working on the last stages of the interior of houseboat New Amsterdam. It was inspired by the oldest houseboat in the Netherlands, De Zwerver.
The houseboat was built in 1900, but the furnishings are mostly in mid-century modern style. The houseboat itself has already been released and most of the rooms have been finished and released already too.
Q: We would love to know about the first product you created, could you tell us about that?
I have a picture of my first sculpted chair for you 🙂 I think it’s from 2009, I had just started to learn 3D modeling and was incredibly proud, as you can see in the photo.
Q: What can you tell our LTD readers to get them excited for what’s to come from your brand?
I hope to finish the interior of houseboat New Amsterdam soon, only some parts of the living room and the hallway are left. So a coat rack and maybe something like a mid-century liquor cabinet for the dining area is coming up. After that, I’m thinking about a farm, a little café or a windmill, a part of the canals in Utrecht, or maybe a few smaller outdoor projects first. I haven’t decided yet, I have way too many ideas.
We hope that you have enjoyed learning a bit about this amazing brand, DUTCHIE. Below we have included some landmarks and Social Media links to check out!
